Here we try to collect some Frequently Asked Questions and their answers.

Code of conduct

  • Is there a code of conduct for useR! 2015?
    Yes, we have adapted the conference code of conduct from confcodeofconduct.com and stated this under "behaviouR!".

Arrival

  • How do I get from the airport to city centre, hotels and conference venue?
    It is easiest to take a taxi from the airport to the city centre. The fare is approximately 170 - 200 DKK (for up to four persons). You can also take the bus (22 DKK/ticket): Schedule.

What do I get?

  • Will I receive a conference bag and a book of abstracts?

    You will receive an eco-friendly conference paper bag containing the handout material including your conference t-shirt.

    The book of abstacts will only be made available electronically: Book of Abstracts.

  • What is included in the registration fee?
    In addition to the free tutorials, welcome reception, talks and poster session, you will receive the conference t-shirt, conference bag (paper bag!), name tag and a "surprise gift".
  • Will there be any food and beverages served during the conference?
    All meals during the conference is included: all-day fruit, coffee and water, lunches (standing buffet), beverages and cake in the afternoon.
  • What will be served during the welcome reception and poster session?
    There will be a standing buffet for both the welcome reception (at the House of Music) and the poster session and drinks (soft drinks, wine and beer).

Tutorials

  • Do I have to sign up for the tutorials?
    No as useR! 2015 participant you just show and take a seat. There should be sufficient room for everybody to have their first pick (We have allocated the tutorials into rooms based on a survey sent out to registrants who signed up before June 1st).
  • Where can I buy food and drinks during Tutorial Tuesday?
    Fruit, Sandwiches, cake, coffe and beverages will be served during the day - also included in your conference fee.
  • Should I bring my own laptop to the conference?
    If you take part in the tutorials during Tutorial Tuesday you must bring your own laptop. There will be a great deal of hands-on excercises.
  • What will there be in the tutorial rooms?

    The rooms vary in size - see the tutorial page for details on number of seats.

    The projector aspect ratio/format will be 4:3 (1024 x 768) and connects using the VGA port.

    There will be whiteboard and pens.

Presentations

  • What's the allocated time per presentation?

    For the invited talks we have scheduled 45 mins of presentation, which will be followed by 10-15 mins for questions.

    The contributed talks will last 15 mins followed by 2-3 mins for question.

    Lightning talks are 5 mins with exactly 15 slides (20 secs per slide). There will be no time for questions after the lightning talks (may be asked in person during the subsequent poster sesssion).

    Presenters of posters should be around to discuss and explain their work during the poster session (Wednesday evening, 18:00 - 21:00).

  • Can I use the conference logo on posters and in presenations?
    Of course! Use it as you would use the R logo: High resolution logo.
  • What are the requirements to length and format for oral presentations?

    Kaleidoscope and Focus contributed talks, will be scheduled for 15 minutes, followed by 2-3 minutes discussion. It is possible to use either your own computer or the one in the room.

    There will be laptops in each conference room that can be used during the presentation. These computers will come with Windows, Microsoft Office (for PowerPoint) and Adobe Reader (for pdf slides). If your presentation contains demostration in R or web browser we recommend that you bring your own laptop. The projectors connect via VGA port. For the Kaleidoscope sessions the aspect ratio is 16:9 (1920 x 1080) and for Focus Sessions the aspect ratio is 4:3 (1024 x 768).

  • What are the requirements to length and format for Lightning talks?
    Presenters of Lightning talks have 5 minutes at their disposal to present 15 slides (exactly 20 seconds per slide).

    We will ask you to prepare/compile your slides as a pdf-file. This file should be send to the organisers prior to the conference (user2015@math.aau.dk). The deadline for submitting your lightning talk (pdf-file) is Tuesday 30th of June, 12:00 (CET). The projector's aspect ratio is 4:3 (1024 x 768).

    No, there will not be staff for the wardrope but you can leave your jacket, coat, umbrealla etc. in the wardrope at your own responsibility.
