All pdf-documents have the paper size "A4". If your printer requires a different size (e.g. "letter"), you just need to change the settings of your Acrobat Reader:

Set "File > Page Setup > Paper" to the right paper size required by your printer (you just need to do that once).
When you print out a pdf-file set the "Fit to page" flag in the print menu (acroread 4) or set "shrink oversized pages to paper size" and "expand small pages to paper size" (acroread 5) respectively.
